SurgeTrader is different from The 5%ers in several important ways. SurgeTrader offers exceptionally simple 1 Phase and 2 Phase funding models, where traders take an Audition with clear rules, no minimum trading days and no time restrictions.
With our program, SurgeTraders take a 1 or 2 Phase Audition in a demo environment, where they have access to trade FX pairs, equities, metals, indices, crypto and commodities. The 5%ers do NOT provide access for their clients to trade crypto, equities, or commodities. In fact, SurgeTrader provides access to well over 1,400 more assets to trade than the 5%ers. Why trade with a prop firm that provides such a limited set of assets? And, if you want to trade on MT4, sorry, The 5%ers only offers MT5.
Beyond The 5%ers’ limited tradable assets, traders will also find the rules at The 5%ers to be much more complex and restrictive than at SurgeTrader, and will find that the levels of available funding are far lower than at SurgeTrader.
All SurgeTrader accounts – whether in the Audition stage or a Live Funded account stage - trade on our trading platform administered by our broker partner, ThinkMarkets. Other prop firms, like The 5%ers, do not publish the details of where their evaluation or funded account trades take place. Their website FAQ says they operate “directly through commercial liquidity providers” and “we take as many precautions as possible to keep our supplier’s identity confidential.” That doesn’t sound very transparent, does it?
When we developed SurgeTrader, we asked ourselves, “How can we stand out?” The answer is incredible customer service that goes above and beyond our competitors. We’ve committed significant resources so that traders can speak to a live person and ask questions or get support by phone, chat or email. The 5%ers do not publish a phone number, and their email/chat is only available for full days Sunday to Thursday, and closes early on Friday, with no coverage at all on the weekend or at night. And, their team operates on GMT, which means for traders in the US and Canada, The5%ers is unavailable during your afternoon trading times.
Other prop firms like The 5%ers have complex rules designed to profit off failed traders. SurgeTrader features both 1 Phase and 2 Phase Auditions with just a couple of clear, easy-to-understand trading rules. The 5%ers requires traders to have 3 profitable trading days per phase, but it doesn’t end there – they define a profitable trading day as a day where you earn 0.5% or more. If you earn 0.49%, sorry, that does not count as a profitable day. If you earned 0.049% on three days and then hit 9% on one really good day, that means your account would be up just over 10% in total, so congratulations, you hit the profit target! But guess what, unless you hit 0.5% on two more days, you will still fail your challenge with the 5%ers. Seems a bit unfair, no?
With The 5%ers, if your account is inactive for 14 days, you will breach your account and fail your challenge. SurgeTrader allows accounts to be inactive for 30 days, and even then, the SurgeTrader Support team can be called to reactivate accounts in many cases, or create a new account and carry over the profit and loss into the new account.
When you earn profits in a funded account, we believe that’s your money to do with as you please. So, if you make profits on the first day of trading a live account, you can request a withdrawal. With The 5%ers High Stakes evaluation, you have to wait 14 days after your account was funded to access your own money and receive your first payout
SurgeTraders are permitted to have one account of each account size — for a maximum capital allocation of over $925k across five 2 Phase Auditions. The 5%ers High Stakes (2 Phase) account has a maximum allocation of just $105K across just 2 of their 2 Phase evaluations.
